Une Canne ça dépanne tradition continues

Franco-Cité’s “Une Canne ça dépanne!” is going to be different this year, but it’s still going to happen.

Despite COVID-19 putting various requirements on the event, the school is continuing to go ahead collecting food for local families in need.

This year, various drop-off sites will be organized by the West Nipissing Food Bank.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 9, the Food Bank (109 Third Street), will accept food donations from the community.

Also on Thursday, for those who can’t make it to Sturgeon Falls, people from across the municipality are invited to deliver food donations at the Food Bank trailer at one of the following sites:

FIELD: 10:00 am to 11:00 am (Riverview Market)
VERNER: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm (Arena)
LAVIGNE: 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm (Community Centre)
CACHE BAY: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Community Hall)

Organizers are reminding to follow distancing guidelines and wear a mask when donating food.

They also say that the municipality requires that contact tracing procedures be conducted.

The Food Bank is also accepting e-transfers to [email protected] (please use the password: patriotes) from those wishing to make a financial contribution.
