At Tuesday’s council meeting, council was unable to decide if they would choose a new councillor for Ward 7 by either appointment or by-election.
Councillors Rolly Larabie, Chris Fisher, Leo Malette, and Dan Roveda all wanted the seat to be appointed, while councillors Lise Sénécal, Denis Sénécal, Yvon Duhaime and Mayor Savage wanted the seat filled by a by-election.
The councillors and Mayor discussed at length their respected pros and cons for both options but were unable to break the tie.
As it now stands, when council reconvenes, they will see if opinions have changed. If they are still at an impasse, the seat will remain vacant.
