RIV Chipstand has been raising money for local organizations for nearly a decade.
Despite having to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, Kate and Bruno Lepage, restaurant owners, said they are still going ahead with their ‘Seize a pogo for epilepsy support” fundraiser this Saturday.
$1 of every purchased pogo will go to Epilepsy North Bay.
“My mother suffers from it, so it’s always been my charity of choice. It’s close to my heart, and there are quite a bit of folks around the community that it touches as well.” said Kate
Last year, a representative from the organization showed up for the day and provided folks with pamphlets and information. Though they are not able to have that option this year due to COVID-19, Lepage says that she has been sharing information on Epilepsy every day leading up to the fundraiser.
“They have sent me a lot of information for me to share and it’s been great. It went really well last year. The weather was great, and that really helps. The event doubles as awareness, too, and for people to understand. The funds really help, because a lot of people in our area, if they have to see a specialist, they have to drive to Ottawa or Toronto and Epilepsy North Bay will assist people in doing just that.” said Kate
The event will run from 11 am to 7 pm Saturday.
