WN Dream Catchers host sing-a-thon

WN Dream Catcher’s Summer Sing-a-thon fundraiser is set for Aug. 29.

The event will feature talent from the theatre group including children and teens, as well as WN country singing staple J.R Aubertin.

The fundraiser will take place at Lorraine’s restaurant from 9 am-7 pm to help recoup losses the group suffered through COVID-19.

“We paid a lot of insurance for the venue we weren’t able to recuperate,” said WN Dream Catchers Director Kat Clark. “Now we have to pay those fees again for our next show, whenever that may be.”

The group’s Willy Wonka showing that was scheduled for last spring was canceled due to COVID-19, and will most likely be pushed back until the Spring of 2021.

“We need to be able to sing in enclosed places again, and then we can start rehearsing, etc,” said Clark.

The group showcases nearly 40 local children per play, including countless adult volunteers.

“It’s important for us to be able to host our two shows a year, and really showcase what kind of talent is in West Nipissing and surrounding areas. So we are hoping this fundraiser is a success so we are able to do just that. We will also be doing a bottle drive in the coming weeks as well.” finished Clark.
