OPP investigate Markstay-Warren fire

An investigation is on-going after police responded to a fire Friday morning.

On August 6, shortly before 7 am, members of Nipissing West OPP and Markstay-Warren Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Park Drive in Markstay-Warren.

The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Once the fire was extinguished, a dog was found deceased within the residence. The dog had been shot.

Police are reporting a suspicious male was seen leaving the scene towards Highway 17 in a late model pick-up truck.

The male driver is described as 6 feet tall, thin build with a dark complexion, and wearing a ball cap and grey hoodie.

While the investigation is in the preliminary stages, police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
