Resident charged after cutting down trees

A 42-year-old Sturgeon Falls man has been charged after he cut down two trees and left them covering Queen Street.

The Nipissing West OPP says that on July 24 they received a report of a person cutting down trees on the corner of Queen and Main Street in Sturgeon Falls shortly after 8am.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed the accused walking away and was subsequently arrested.

OPP Media Relations and Community Safety Officer Constable Michelle Coulombe says that the man cut the trees down using a chainsaw and that he claimed they were interfering with the hydro wires.
