OPP recover body from the French River

A 72-year-old Windsor man has died in the French River. 

Nipissing West OPP is reporting officers responded to the possible drowning call on July 27, shortly after 8 pm.

The investigation revealed a person was swimming near the dock at a cottage they were renting, but within minutes the swimmer could not be located.

The OPP Marine Unit and Aviation Services attended the scene to assist with the search but were unsuccessful in locating the missing person.

On July 28, shortly before noon, the OPP’s Underwater Search and Rescue Unit recovered the body form the French River.

A post mortem examination of the deceased is scheduled, and the investigation is on-going.

Foul play is not suspected.
