From June 27 until July 5, Members of the Nipissing West Detachment and the Sudbury Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) participated in a Canada Day traffic initiative.
Officers were out and about keeping their communities, highways, waterways and trails safe all while focussing on their “big four” offences which included: alcohol/drug impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving and lack of occupant restraint.
The OPP also put a spotlight on various lifesaving equipment including seatbelts, personal flotation devices as well as helmets for off-road vehicles and bicycles.
During the 2020 Canada Day initiative, Nipissing West OPP and Sudbury TIME officers laid the following charges over the 9-day period:

Motor Vehicle: Impaired (Alcohol) = 5
