Canadore College’s Village health and wellness facility is bragging about what students have been doing during the coronavirus pandemic.

People studying social service worker and mental health and addictions programs have racked up more than 400 hours, connecting with senior citizens in Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts.

It’s called “Village CARES” and while it prevents isolation for the seniors on the other end of the phone lines, it also gives the students the placement hours they need in their courses.

Canadore believes this type of placement is the first of its kind for colleges.
