A 32-year-old Ottawa man had to be tasered by North Bay police after leading them on a high speed chase in the city early Wednesday morning.  The incident started with police trying to stop the speeding vehicle on Lakeshore and through several side streets.  When stopping didn’t work police laid out a spike belt which flattened three of the four tires on the vehicle.  At this point the driver took off on foot and began fighting with police when they caught up to him.  They used the taser when the man kept resisting.  The accused faces numerous offenses including dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, assaulting police while resisting arrest and drug charges.
