Late June is the time for graduations.

Families gather to celebrate the success of relatives who are advancing or finishing their academic careers. However, the class of 2020 will have something to look back on that other graduates won’t, graduating in the middle of a global pandemic.

Because of that, West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage offered up some words of encouragement for the graduates.

“I really want to say a big congratulations to all 2020 graduates,” she said. “It has been a unique year and to overcome this challenge is unique.”

“I also really want to commend all the educational employees, the schools, the teachers, because I believe that everyone has a part in welding our youth,” Savage continued. “Everyone has been contributing towards the success of our graduates. So congratulations, again, to our 2020 graduates and best of luck in future endeavours and may you have a safe and healthy summer as well.”
