Family dispute ends in charges

A family dispute ended with charges for one resident, according to the Nipissing West OPP.

Police say Monday evening they were called to a residence on Lisgar Street in Sturgeon Falls because of the dispute. The investigation showed that the accused had assaulted and threatened the victim, who sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say while in custody, the accused then assaulted an officer and damaged a police cruiser.

As a result, a 49-year-old from Sturgeon Falls has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Assault a Peace Officer

Police say the accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on Thursday.
