Mid-week shoplifting at the local LCBO has resulted in charges for a 30-year-old.
Nipissing West OPP says they were called to the store around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls in regards to a theft. After checking the store’s security video, they found the suspect had taken a couple of bottles of liquor.
Police say they found the accused shortly after under a Highway 17 bridge and were able to recover the stolen property. The 30-year-old of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
- Theft Under $5,000 – Shoplifting
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Failure to Comply with Release Order – other than to attend court (two counts)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing in North Bay on Thursday.
