While the NDP’s John Vanthof, MPP for Timiskaming-Cochrane might sit across from the Conservatives in Queen’s Park, he says he agrees with the message of everyone being tested for COVID-19.
“We think it’s very important,” he said.
However, he says the NDP’s is striving for two different types of testing programs.
“A dedicated systemic testing program that’s gone through long-term care homes,” Vanthof said. “It should be going through retirement homes, or anywhere where people work together or live together in close quarters because that’s where a lot of our outbreaks are coming from. It’s very important that we have a testing program that concentrates on them.”
Vanthof says the second option should be a general one for everyone.
“There should be an overall testing program that anyone who needs a test can get a test,” he stated.
As of Friday, Vanthof says he has yet to be tested.
