Walk-in fridge operational at the food bank

A walk-in fridge has gone from dream to reality at the West Nipissing Food Bank.

“We are proud to say our walk-in fridge is fully operational,” Carole Renaud, the chair of the food bank said on Facebook.

Through the Moose 99.3 radiothon in December, $8,370 was raised towards the goal of the walk-in fridge. At the time, food bank officials said they would need about $8,000 to $10,000 in order to purchase the fridge.

Bill Gingras, who does refrigeration work, stepped in to help purchase the fridge and installed the cooler free of charge.

“Thank you to these two guys, Bill Gingras and Luc Charles for your dedication and your generosity, we are grateful to you both,” Renaud said. “Thank you also to the Moose for the fundraising, and last but certainly not least, our community. Without all of you, this would not be possible. Thank you all, and stay safe.”
