What’s opened and closed for holiday long weekend

The Municipality of West Nipissing has sent out some reminders to make you enjoy your long weekend, safely.

Officials say in keeping with provincial guidelines, gatherings of more than five people are prohibited, and gatherings with anyone outside of your household is to be avoided.

As for services, the municipality says telephone services at town hall will be closed at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow, and reopened Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., however, if you have an urgent inquiry, call 705-753-1170. Waste and Recycling will not be affected by the long weekend and will continue as regularly scheduled.

The restricted fire zone remains in place in Ontario’s legislated fire region, which means wood burning campfires are prohibited. Officials say that propane appliances, such as fire pits, or fire bowls with a shut off valve are permitted. Those appliances must be one metre away from any flammable material.

The launch at the museum remains closed, but all other public launches are open to provide access for property owners to check-in on their cottages. Docks will not be installed at this time.
