OPP officer charged with impaired driving

Nipissing West OPP says the 21st impaired charge in their jurisdiction belongs to a fellow OPP officer.

Officers say they were called to the traffic complaint just east of Sandy Falls Road on Highway 17 in West Nipissing on Sunday. Once police arrived, they found the driver had been consuming alcohol and was arrested.

The constable, a 23-year member of the OPP, serving out of the Temiskaming Detachment was off duty at the time and has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

Officials say the officer has a court date in North Bay on June 21. The officer was issued a 90-day ban on their license, and their vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

In 2019 there were 62 impaired charges for the Nipissing West OPP.
