Local school boards have closed all school playgrounds and other amenities, including sports fields and access to school board property until further notice.
The Near North District School Board said, “Although playgrounds and other amenities are an important part of our communities, we are following the advice of health professionals and Province of Ontario orders concerning the need for physical distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The Nipissing – Parry Sound Catholic District School Board put the ban in place last week. “In light of the recommendations made by the provincial government as well as the Chief Medical Officer of Health, effective immediately and until further notice all access to Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board outdoor recreational amenities, including sports fields and outdoor play structures, is strictly prohibited.”
