Harsh winter could kill many deer says fish and game club chief

This winter’s deep snow depth plus the extreme cold is bad news for deer.  And the president of the Espanola Fish and Game Club says we could see a high death rate in deer this year.  Lee Morley says some deer are starving because they can’t move around their winter feeding yards.  Morley says in severe cases female deer will abort their fawn which will further reduce the population.  Espanola residents are doing their part to help save the deer later this month with a strategy meeting.  One option being discussed is to bring feed to the deer.
