Search warrant large quantity of drugs and money off the streets

A search warrant executed on Monday has netted quite the haul for police.

Officers say they seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Hydromorphone, and Oxycodone, along with a large amount of Canadian currency at the residence on Percy Street in North Bay. Police say the street value of the drugs is approximately $22,300.

Members of the North East Region OPP Community Street Crime Unit with the assistance of officers from North Bay Police Service executed the warrant at the residence.

As a result of the investigation, two people are facing charges, a 39-year-old from North Bay, and a 36-year-old from West Nipissing.

The 39-year-old has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs (2 counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The 36-year-old faces charges of:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance

The two remain in custody pending video conference bail hearings at the North Bay courthouse.

During the investigation, police say one of the accused sustained an injury. The OPP has notified the Special Investigations Unit, which has invoked its mandate to investigate.
