WNCC looking out for local businesses

The West Nipissing Chamber of Commerce (WNCC) is looking out for local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s very important that we follow the World Health Organization guidelines to prevent COVID-19 in our area,” Joanne Valliere, the president of WNCC said. “How can we do that? With prevention, prevention, prevention.”

Tips offered up by WNCC include:

  • When entering a business, sanitize your hands
  • Limit what you touch
  • Practice physical distancing
  • Sanitize again when you leave

“These may seem like minor actions, but they play a large roll in wellness,” Valliere stated. “We recommend businesses have hand sanitizers available to customers as they walk in and get the staff to encourage them to use them.”

Another measure WNCC recommends is in place is limiting the use of cash, and using debit or credit cards.

“Be patient as some businesses have had to lay off, or work with reduced staff,” Valliere said. “It may take a few more minutes to be served. Businesses are starting to feel the effect of a financial and stressful situation so let’s support local businesses at this time of need as the following weeks could get worse.”

“Some businesses are closed, but are available with a call-in,” she continued. “Let’s keep our community safe. Working together as a community can go a long way in this difficult time.”
