Charge laid by OPP in highway crash that injured officer

The OPP is giving an update on a serious three-vehicle collision involving a police cruiser on Highway 11, north of North Bay last month.

Police say the driver of a pick-up truck involved in the crash, a 24-year-old resident of Wahnapitae, Ontario, has been charged with careless driving in relation to the incident on February 27 in Temagami.

The OPP officer was transported to the hospital by ambulance to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the pick-up truck (with a trailer in tow) and a tractor-trailer were travelling southbound when they initially collided, then involving the northbound OPP cruiser in the crash.

The other drivers involved did not sustain any injuries.
