OECTA suspends rotating strikes for the week

Some relief is on the way for parents of students who attend Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic School Board (NPSC) schools.

The union representing members who teach at the school board, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), announced it will be suspending all rotating strikes for the coming week. The union was set to strike on Tuesday.

OECTA has recently sat back down at the bargaining table with the provincial government and says that the conversations have been meaningful.

NPSC says in light of the suspension of strikes, all services will be made available:

  • Community use of schools will continue as usual
  • Regular school transportation will resume for the entire week

OECTA did participate in Friday’s all-out province-wide strike by the four major unions who represent teachers all across Ontario.

  • St. Joseph-Scollard Hall
  • Holy Cross
  • Mother St. Bride
  • Our Lady of Fatima
  • Our Lady of Sorrows (Sturgeon Falls)
  • St. Alexander
  • St. Francis
  • St. Gregory (Powassan)
  • St. Hubert
  • St. Luke
