Students out of school today will miss two more days next week

Near North District School Board elementary students who are headed back to class tomorrow after two straight days off will have another three-day week coming unless a deal is struck between the provincial government and teachers.

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has announced the following full withdrawal of services:

  • Tuesday, February 11, for a province-wide one-day full withdrawal of services.
  • Friday, February 14, for a local one-day full withdrawal of services.

On February 11 and 14, all NNDSB schools will be closed to elementary students (Grade JK-8) but will remain open and accessible to Grade 9 -12 students.

As such, composite schools with intermediate students, such as West Ferris, Chippewa and F.J. McElligott, will remain open for high school students but will be closed to the grade 7 and 8 students.
