Thursday strike to keep public elementary students out for second straight day

All elementary schools in the Near North District School Board (NNDSB) will be closed to students Thursday.

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) is holding province-wide job action on Thursday. The union and province had resumed talks on a new deal, but talks broke down last Friday after three days.

Composite schools with intermediate students, such as West Ferris, Chippewa and F.J. McElligott, will remain open for high school students but will be closed to the grade 7 and 8 students.

All Early Years programs, childcare, school-aged programs and Early On Child and Family Centres will remain open. Community use of schools will be unaffected.

  • Sunset Park
  • Vincent Massey
  • J. Fricker
  • White Woods (Sturgeon Falls)
  • Woodland

Schools will resume regular operations Friday.
