All elementary schools in the Near North District School Board (NNDSB) will be closed to students tomorrow and Thursday.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) announced last week that the school board would be participating in the select strike tomorrow, with province-wide job action on Thursday. The union and province had resumed talks on a new deal, but those have since broken down again.
The schools that will be affected are:
- Alliance
- T. Carmichael
- W. Norman
- Ferris Glen (Corbeil)
- T. Davidson (Callander)
- Mapleridge (Powassan)
- Mattawa District
- Phelps (Redbridge)
- Silver Birches
- South River
- Sundridge Centennial
- Sunset Park
- Vincent Massey
- J. Fricker
- White Woods (Sturgeon Falls)
- Woodland
The schools will reopen Friday.
Composite schools with intermediate students, such as West Ferris, Chippewa and F.J. McElligott, will remain open for high school students but will be closed to the grade 7 and 8 students.
All Early Years programs, childcare, school-aged programs and Early On Child and Family Centres will remain open. Community use of schools will run as usual.
ETFO says strikes will continue weekly.
