A traffic stop in Sturgeon Falls has netted two people charges with the Nipissing West OPP.
After stopping the vehicle on Third Street officers say they found the driver had a suspended licence and was wanted on several outstanding warrants. After digging a little deeper, police found the licence plates on the car were not authentic and arrested the three people who had been inside.
Officers say they found and took break-in tools, a number of stolen personal identification documents and credit cards along with key fobs for various vehicles, falsified plates, prescription drugs, suspected to be Ativan and Canadian money.
A 31-year-old man from Field was arrested and charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance (seven counts)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order (three counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000 (three counts)
- Possession Break In Instruments
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Other Drugs
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The two passengers were released. Police, however, found that one of the passengers had given a false identity. The next day they arrested a 37-year-old woman, also from Field, who was charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance (five counts)
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Other Drugs
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession Break In Instruments
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000 (three counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000
Both are being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
