Amelia Rising is gearing up for their second edition of “Rising Up.”
Taking place at the Grande Event Centre on February 6th, Rising Up is an evening of music and comedy, as well as highlighting the organization’s work in the community. This year’s edition will feature a live music performance from Coco Love Alcorn as well as stand-up comedian Martha Chaves.
“Rising Up is a fundraiser for our Public Education Program which is crucial to our mission of ending sexual and gender-based violence”, says Executive Director Brigitte Lebel. “We have seen a significant increase in demand for support services from survivors of sexual and gender-based violence between the ages of 12 and up.”
“Due to this increase in demand, we recognize that we need to step up our programming to educate young folks about healthy relationships, consent, media literacy, gender identity, and expression,” Lebel added.
There will also be a silent auction of items donated from around the community. Tax receipts will be given out to any donation that exceeds the ticket price of $25.
