A traffic stop in Sturgeon Falls resulted in a laundry list of charges for a Cache Bay resident.

Nipissing West OPP stopped the vehicle after they saw it drive through a red light at the intersection of Nipissing Street and Front Street. Once stopped, the officers say they found the driver to be in violation of bail conditions and was wanted by Service de Police de Laval in Québec.

Police say they also found and took drugs suspected to be Fentanyl, Hydromorphone, Methamphetamine and Crystal Meth along with a large amount of Canadian currency.

As a result, police arrested and charged the 51-year-old with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (2 counts)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance (3 counts)
  • Red Light – Fail to Stop

Officers say the accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
