OPP identify victim in deadly motorbike-pick-up truck collision

Nipissing West OPP has identified the motorcycle driver who died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17.

Investigators say the victim was 26-year-old Steven Poulin of Sudbury.

The crash took place just east of Long Lake Road around 9:00pm December 22nd.

OPP officers from the Nipissing West Sudbury detachment say the motorbike was eastbound on Highway 17 when it crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a westbound pick-up truck.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The impact resulted in both vehicles catching fire although the truck driver wasn’t hurt.

The OPP’s Collision Reconstructionist team and an OPP collision specialist are continuing to look into what caused the crash.

The December 22nd crash kept Highway 17 between Regional Road 55 and Highway 69 closed for about five hours.
