Snowbank stops impaired driver

The impaired charges total in West Nipissing has increased by one more.

On Friday, the Nipissing West OPP were called to a single-vehicle collision on Rochon Road in River Valley. Upon arrival, they found out that the vehicle had struck a snowbank and the driver was attempting to get the car out and back on the road when he was approached by a nearby resident who called the police.

Police say upon further investigation, they suspected that the man had been drinking alcohol prior to the incident.

As a result, a 69-year-old man from Field was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor

The man was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sturgeon Falls on February 6.

This impaired charge marks 61 by the Nipissing West OPP for 2019.
