Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Warning for the West Nipissing area.

They continue to report that “several millimetres of ice accretion are possible with some areas likely receiving several centimetres of snow in addition to the freezing rain. Freezing rain will change to all snow towards midnight as much colder air arrives in from the north in the wake of the low.”

With this in mind, the Nipissing Parry Sound Student Transportation Services say the risk of freezing rain and very slippery side roads are reason enough to cancel the school buses for West Nipissing

This includes River Valley, Field, Verner, Lavigne, Sturgeon Falls, and Jocko Point.

Schools remain open for student who can get there safely. Parents are reminded that any child dropped off, must be picked up at the end of the school day
