The Near North District School Board announced that Senior Administration and school staff continue to work on the consolidation process of Widdifield Secondary school.

The work in question is that of reviewing budgets and work plans.

“The Board of Trustees is committed to making decisions that are in the best interests of our students and communities,” said board Chair Jay Aspin “While the decision to close a school is a difficult one, moving forward we will be able to continue providing quality programs and supports for our students.”

Trustees also discussed options for programming at the two remaining schools, West Ferris and Chippewa for the 2020/2021 school year. The board announced that it will now be offering a new sports program at West Ferris. Senior Administration also confirmed their ongoing commitment to ensuring that all specialized programs are equitable and available to all students.
