Councillor Dan Roveda alleviates concerns over ambulance services in West Nipissing

Councillor Dan Roveda is alleviating concerns over the level of ambulance service in West Nipissing.

Mayor Joanne Savage says she began hearing concerns that hospital patient transfers for people needing testing in North Bay and Sudbury were being impacted.

Savage said if there was going to be a change to the level of ambulance service in West Nipissing, council and the municipality would need to be made aware of that.

The ambulance is run through the Nipissing District Social Services Administration Board and council’s rep on the board is Dan Roveda.

Roveda told his council colleagues there have been all kinds of rumours regarding ambulance service.

But Roveda says the fact is a proposal was made to the DSSAB to actually enhance services.

“The services here are not hindered whatsoever,” he said.

“We’re getting our fair share and probably more than our fair share.  We’re looking at the contract.  There’s something on the table that will enhance the services that we have.”

Roveda couldn’t get into any more details since this is a negotiating matter.

However, his response seemed to ease any concerns members of council may have had.
