Ecole Scolaire Public Nipissing Ouest came through in a big way to help the West Nipissing General Hospital.
“It exceeded our expectations more than we could hope for,” Hospital President and CEO Cynthia Desormier said. “$6,700 will definitely buy us a nice IV Smart Pump. We will be able to load it up with all the dictionaries and bells and whistles.”
The original goal was to raise $5,000 and the students raised $1,700 more by going around the community asking for donations.
The donations came from ticket sales for a draw to win a handcrafted bench. The winner was drawn but since the name was illegible, they have to call them.
As for the IV pump, Cynthia explains the benefits of it.
“We will be able to program it to make sure you get the right dosages and makes the process of administering chemotherapy much more accurate and reduces the errors. It will provide a valuable experience to our Oncology patients.”
