Serre re-elected as MP for Nickel Belt-Greater Sudbury

It was a tight race but incumbent Marc Serre has been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for the Nickel Belt-Greater Sudbury riding.

Heading into his second term as MP, Serre says it is all about listening to people.

“I love my job, I love supporting people and I love making a difference. What I did when I was first elected, I hired a really strong team and I still have that team in place and we are going to continue to support the community.”

“What I have learned is not to take anything for granted and be humble, but it is a tremendous honour to be the MP for Nickel Belt and to continue to support the area as much as I can.”

Serre wants the people in the riding to know that he will be there for them.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us so they can count on me to continue to work for them and to make a difference. Bottom line is listening, hearing and getting results for the people of Nickel Belt.”

Serre came in ahead of Stef Paquette with the NDP, Aino Laamanen of the Conservatives, Casey Lalonde with the Green Party, and Mikko Paavola of the PPC.

The Liberals will have a minority government this time around. Four of five party leaders have won their home ridings. The only leader not to win a seat in Parliament is People’s Party leader Maxime Bernier.

This is Serre’s second win in as many tries.
