Moose hunting convictions yield $4,500 in fines

A man and woman from Cobalt and a North Bay man have been fined $1,500 each for illegal moose hunting activity.  The Ministry of Natural Resources says the woman shot a moose in Larder Lake mistaking it for a calf in October of 2013.   But then with help from her husband she tried to cover it up by getting a First Nation man to say he shot the moose under his Aboriginal status.  After the carcass was cut up and distributed, the MNR found out what really happened and charged the trio.
