City politicians are speaking out against proposed wind farms in Merrick and Mattawa. North Bay Mayor Al McDonald will be meeting with Ontario’s Environment Minister tomorrow to try and get a proposal for a wind farm in Merrick denied. His concern is that it’s too close to Jack Garland Airport, which could put the airport’s equipment and investment opportunities at risk. Meanwhile, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli has just launched a petition against the two wind farm proposal saying they are a concern for local First Nations and property owners.
