Au Chateau gets relief with extensions

The provincial government has granted Au Chateau, and other Long Term Health an extension on funding cuts that were expected to come on October 1.

The province had announced cuts to long-term health care and with that, an estimated $230,000 would have been removed from the budget of the Au Château Home for the Aged of West Nipissing.

“Au Chateau is very pleased that the Provincial Government has extended the funding for High Wage Transition Fund to December 31, 2020, and the Structural Compliance Premium Fund to March 31, 2020,” Jacques Dupuis, the administrator at Au Chateau said. “The extension will allow the government to review funding strategy moving forward and also afford the Home to better plan in the future. We thank Minister Fullerton for the extension and for their commitment to developing a long term care staffing strategy and new minor capital funding program.”

The High Wage Transition Fund helps to pay staff wages and the Structural Compliance Premium fund which helps keep the long-term health centres up to modern standards.
