Northeastern Pavilion brings more local flair to IPM

While the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is being hosted in the Town of Verner, neighbouring communities have been invited to join in on the fun, laying down stakes during the event in two tents named the “Northeastern Pavilion.”

“We looked at an opportunity, a project that all communities of West Nipissing and the neighbouring municipalities would work together and work in partnership,” West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage explained. “This would make it able to have fun, to grow together and see a benefit of the economy.”

The Northeastern Pavilion hosts attractions from North Bay, Sudbury, Timmins, Temiskaming Shores, Temagami and of course West Nipissing. Inside one tent you will find tourist options, maps, and interactive displays. Inside the other tent is a stage with local artists will ply their trade, along with a bar that comes complete with beer and spirits that is made in Northern Ontario, and food from the local communities.

“We all know that we are a tourist destination in the north and there are many opportunities and a unique niche in our communities,” Savage said. “By working together we can make sure we attract people to our areas, and promote our areas. I think that it is definitely a worthwhile initiative, and that’s the way to go. If we want to build it, we will build it together.”

As one of the bigger areas of Tented City, it is a must-see attraction before the IPM closes on Saturday.
