IPM officially underway

The IPM has officially kicked off and with it, an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 visitors will travel to Verner.

The parade kicked off events on Tuesday along with the opening ceremonies.

“The community of West Nipissing, our Board of Directors and all our volunteers are proud to welcome the World to our backyard,” says Neil Fox, IPM 2019 Chair. “We’re ready to rock ‘n’ roll.”

An indication of the excitement for IPM 2019, advance tickets sold out last week – all 5,000 of them. Tickets will be readily available at the gate.

Gates open at 8:30am and plowing competitions begin at 9:30am. Admission costs $20 per adult each day, $5 each for children age six to 15. Children age five and younger are admitted for free. Cash, debit, VISA and Mastercard will be accepted.

There is no fee for parking. Shuttle service will be provided from parking areas to Tented City and from Tented City to the Plow Fields.

“The IPM is a tradition that dates back more than 100 years. It’s a fantastic celebration of agriculture and rural living,” says Sheila Marshall, President of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association, parent hosts of the IPM. “It’s agriculture’s time to shine.”
