Deputy Premier tours area addictions recovery home

Members of the Ontario Government were in North Bay to tour the North Bay Recovery Home.

Christine Elliot, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health; Michael Tibollo Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions; MPP for Mississauga Centre Natalia Kusendova; and, MPP for Nipissing Vic Fedeli took in the tour and talked about the importance of the building.

“It’s very important to have the Minister of Health and Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions here today,” MPP Fedeli said. “They see first hand the importance of this facility, the recovery home in North Bay. As well as having a good conversation on what do they need, what their requirements over the upcoming year. We have $3.8 billion committed over 10 years and we are looking at the best possible way to spend that money.”

“I think what is going on here at the North Bay Recovery Home is quite remarkable,” Deputy Premier Elliot said. “They don’t have a large budget but they are doing wonderful things with what they have and stretching services to make sure that the people are cared for while they are here, but also when they finish the program and go back into the community, they help them find homes in some cases, they help them receive services so that they can continue to be successful in the community.”

There will be funding announced shortly, according to Minister Elliot, as both she and Minister Tibollo will conduct sessions to find out what is needed.

“Both Ministers have been touring from corner to corner of the province and Minister Elliot has been here to North Bay in the past leading a round table on mental health and addictions and now we have a new Associate Minister as well,” Fedeli added. “We are getting very close to a time when the announcements will be made.
