Two charged in case involving historical sexual and physical assaults

In August, the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, along with the Sudbury OPP Crime Unit responded to a complaint of historical sexual and physical assaults on a young person, in St. Charles, Ontario.

As a result of the police investigation, two people were arrested on August 25.

A 43-year-old male, from St. Charles, has been charged with the following:

  • Sexual Assault x 2
  • Sexual Exploitation
  • Invitation to Sexual Touching-Under 16 years of age x 2
  • Sexual Interference x 2
  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats-Cause Bodily Harm x 2

A 34-year-old female, also from St. Charles, has been charged with the following:

  • Assault with a Weapon x 2
  • Uttering Threats-Cause Death x 2
  • Assault
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm
  • Criminal Harassment-Threatening

Both accused persons were released on a promise to appear and undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on September 25.

The names of those charged have been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
