Council dials back speed limit on Quesnel Road

West Nipissing Council has decided to reduce the speed limit on Quesnel Road from 60 km/h to 50km/h.

The motion was brought forward by Councillor Chris Fisher, who is the chair of Emergency Measures and Public Safety.

“There [were] some changes made on Quesnel Road as you’re turning the corner around Leisure Farms. Once those changes were made, it was apparent that perhaps our by-law has speed limits that are too quick,” Fisher said at Council.

Mayor Joanne Savage agreed with the measure due to the higher number of pedestrians now in the area of the road.

Savage said she concurred the speed limit should be dropped to 50 and “that we are respective of pedestrians in that area.”

The council voted unanimously in passing the motion.
