North Bay is getting two new transit buses. Combined, the vehicles will cost $843,000 however the provincial gas tax the city receives will offset up to 44 percent of that cost. At 12 years old the buses are at the end of their lives. Meanwhile city councillor Mike Anthony wants to see if the city can extend the usefulness of its buses in the future. Anthony believes if city mechanics watch for wear and tear in the buses early on, the city can squeeze another one to three years out of them.
