Sneak peek at IPM entertainment and events

The preliminary list of entertainment and events for the five-day International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) in Verner in mid-September has been released and it includes a little something for everyone.

Highlights of the event this year include:

  • Skyhawks Canadian Armed Forces parachute team on September 18
  • Amber Marshall, CBC Heartland actress, will be hosting the RAM Rodeo Tour, as well as a signing session on September 20
  • West Coast Lumberjack Show, featuring log rolling, axe throwing, tree climbing and more
  • Musical acts including Stompper Taw Connors, son of Canadian legend Stompin’ Tom Connors

Aside from those events, there is the BMO Plowing Competition, showcasing participants from all across Canada and the United States, who will be plowing with horses and antique tractors on top of the conventional farm equipment. New this year is the out-of-field competition where you as a fan can test your plowing abilities. Your own equipment and insurance are required, however.

Hundreds of exhibitors, agricultural displays, demonstrations and a variety of food will be on hand as well. The full schedule for the events has yet to be officially announced.
