Cannabis shoppers from West Nipissing will have several nearby options to choose from.

Results of the AGCO lottery to select the second round of possible cannabis retailers have been released, including one with a North Bay address.

Lorne J. Fine, listing an address at 390 Lakeshore Drive, Suite 3, has been selected from 181 entrants for the one available North Bay spot. The address given is located in the Nipissing Plaza in West Ferris.

There are two shops open in Greater Sudbury and one in the planning stages for Nipissing First Nation.

Five applicants were also chosen for the wait list for North Bay:

  • 1999295 Ontario Inc. – 581 Lakeshore Drive
  • Thomas Bitove – 300 Lakeshore Drive
  • Canna North Consulting Corp. – 955 McKeown Avenue, Unit 2
  • Reproart Imaging Inc. – 300 Lakeshore Drive, Unit 503
  • Steve John Buytels – 300 Lakeshore Drive

Applicants on the wait list will be moved to the selected list if those ahead of them are found to be ineligible for a Retail Operator Licence or Retail Store Authorization, or are otherwise disqualified under the Allocation Lottery Rules, according to AGCO.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario held the lottery yesterday on behalf of the Government of Ontario. Those who met pre-qualification requirements for one of the 42 new store authorizations were given an opportunity to be selected to apply for a licence.

According to AGCO, there were 4,864 eligible expressions of interest included in the lottery draw, which was overseen by a third-party fairness monitor.

The AGCO has notified the 42 selected applicants that they may now “apply for a cannabis Retail Operator Licence and a Retail Store Authorization. Applicants have until August 28 to do so, at which point the AGCO will undertake its full eligibility and licensing review. The AGCO will only licence applicants and authorize stores that meet all legal and regulatory requirements.”
