Nipissing West OPP laid 77 various charges over the August long weekend.

Most of the charges, 52, were for speeding.

Another seven charges were laid for moving violations.

Two people were charged for not wearing their seatbelts and three were hit with impaired offences.

There were 11 collisions in the region from August 2nd to the 5th.

Two of those collisions involved motorbikes and OPP say they resulted in serious injuries.

There was also a fatal swimming incident in the Restoule River at the Dokis First Nation.

There’s still a bit of summer left and Nipissing West OPP say that still means busy highways for the next several weeks.

Police say with that extra traffic, take a little more time to get to your destination.

In addition, if on the waterways, were a lifejacket and regardless of whether you are driving a boat, motor vehicle or recreational vehicle, make sure you drive sober.
