News Council to discuss Verner’s discoloured water issue at special meeting SHARE ON: Rocco Frangione, staff Friday, Aug. 2nd, 2019 Treatment at Verner water plant appears to be resolving the discoloured water matter. (Rocco Frangione, MyWestNipissingNow.com staff) The Municipality of West Nipissing is again providing bottled water to Verner residents after their water from the municipal water system became discoloured. The water is available until 6:00pm this evening at the Verner Fire Hall. High levels of manganese are behind the discolouration. The water also has a taste and smell to it. The municipality says despite all three factors, the water is bacteriologically safe. Council is holding a special meeting of council on Tuesday to deal with the issue and discuss possible solutions. Although the meeting, which begins at 6:30pm in the council chambers, will be available on Livestream, it will not be broadcast on Eastlink.
