News Cost of daycare to rise in Verner SHARE ON: Rocco Frangione, staff Thursday, Aug. 1st, 2019 Work on Verner Municipal Building and lamp post project can move forward. (Rocco Frangione, MyWestNipissingNow.com staff) The cost of looking after little ones in Verner is going up. The Municipality of West Nipissing is increasing the current $300 a month rate to $500 a month. The West Nipissing Child Corporation, which is funded by the Nipissing DSSAB, last had its lease looked at in 2004. That marks 15 years of no increases. At one point in the council debate, there was a suggestion that perhaps the monthly rate should increase to $975 a month which council was told is the market rate. But there were concerns about the ripple effect a 300 percent-plus increase in the rent would have on the clients. Recently Verner has seen more families and many parents have been looking for daycare facilities. Municipal staff will present the increase of $500 to the daycare service.
